Diploma in Dietary Therapy

This diploma qualifies you for entry to the Diploma Course in Nutritional Therapy. It also enables you to be insured to practise (although we do regard this as an interim situation), allowing you to work professionally and build both your confidence and client base while continuing to study to become a Nutritional Therapist. It gives you the skills required to work with clients, to assess their dietary needs and provide dietary plans to optimise health and help to prevent disease.

You will be able to tackle issues such as regulating body weight, food intolerances and deficiencies. At the end of this course, you can join the British Association for Nutritional Therapy (BANT), as a student member.

Macro and micronutrients: food sources and nutrient value of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water

Nutritional Biochemistry: how macro and micronutrients work in the body at a chemical level.

Dietary Models and Therapy: range of diets, organic eating and “superfoods”

Introductory Research Methods (not needed if you have got a science degree): helping you to know the difference between fact and fiction, using basic statistical methods

Ethics and Codes of Practice: BANT codes of ethical practice in research and clinical settings. Registration as BANT Student Member

Clinical Practice Level 1: conducting ‘real' consultations, following role-play and observations

61 over three terms on Thursdays and Fridays or on alternate weekends over four and a half terms

FEES:
Diploma in Dietary Therapy: Modules in macro micronutrients, biochemistry, pathohysiology, dietary therapy, basic research (for non graduates), BANT DAY, intro counselling and practice management. (Science Foundation prerequisite).
